Trump rejects Iran peace proposal as ships transit
President Trump dismissed Iran's response to a U.S. peace proposal as unacceptable while pressure mounts to resolve the conflict before his visit to China. Despite the diplomatic deadlock, a Qatari LNG carrier and a Panama-flagged vessel successfully transited the blockaded Strait of Hormuz.
United States President Donald Trump rejected Iran's peace proposal on Sunday, calling the terms totally unacceptable. Iran demanded an immediate end to the war, a halt to the naval blockade, and the lifting of oil sanctions. The rejection underscores a wider diplomatic stalemate despite a month-long ceasefire and partial easing of blockade restrictions.
Trump posted his response on Truth Social after reviewing terms forwarded by Pakistan. Iranian state media said the proposal focused on ending the war on all fronts, especially Lebanon, and on shipping safety through the Strait of Hormuz. The Wall Street Journal reported that Iran also proposed diluting some of its highly enriched uranium and transferring the remainder to a third country.
