Trump Awards Medal of Freedom to Roger Clemens

President Donald Trump announced he will award the presidential Medal of Freedom to former baseball star Roger Clemens. Trump praised the pitcher at a political rally in Texas, calling him one of the greatest athletes in history despite his Hall of Fame omission over steroid allegations.

President Donald Trump announced he will award the presidential Medal of Freedom to former baseball pitcher Roger Clemens. Clemens won 354 games over a long career but was excluded from the Hall of Fame over steroid allegations. The civilian honor marks a high distinction for an athlete shadowed by performance-enhancing drug controversies in the United States.

Trump made the announcement during a political rally in San Antonio, where Clemens joined him on stage wearing a blue baseball cap. Clemens called the recognition a surprise that supersedes his playing career achievements.
