Market researcher TrendForce significantly increased its price projections for conventional DRAM. Contract prices are now expected to surge by up to 95 percent.
Insights:
Market researcher TrendForce has sharply raised its chip price forecasts for the start of the year. The firm now expects conventional DRAM contract prices to jump by 90% to 95% during the January to March 2026 period compared to the final three months of 2025. This significant upward revision follows an earlier forecast where TrendForce previously estimated 55% to 60% price growth for dynamic random access memory for the first quarter.
The update comes as major industry participants including Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. , SK hynix Inc. , and Micron Technology, Inc. operate within an increasingly constrained supply environment. According to figures reported by Reuters on 2 February 2026, TrendForce cited the ongoing artificial intelligence boom and persistent AI and data-center demands in 1Q26 as the primary drivers behind the revision. The market researcher noted that these factors are worsening the global memory supply and demand imbalance.
