VWCO and SAIC Partner for Brazil Vehicles

Volkswagen unit VWCO has partnered with China's SAIC Motor to develop light commercial vehicles for Brazil and Argentina. The firm plans a 300 million reais investment with initial production in China.

TRATON SE's Brazilian subsidiary has partnered with SAIC MOTOR CORP LTD-A to develop a new family of light commercial vehicles, committing 300 million reais ($58.86 million) to the venture. The collaboration marks the truck maker's first entry into the light commercial segment. The jointly developed vehicle will be unveiled in November, according to Volkswagen Caminhoes e Onibus (VWCO) Chief Executive Roberto Cortes.
