Trafigura and Partners Form US DRC Cobalt Supply Chain
Trafigura and EVelution Energy have signed a memorandum of understanding with EGC to supply Congolese cobalt hydroxide to the United States. The agreement aims to meet forty percent of projected American cobalt demand through a new Arizona refinery.
Entreprise Générale du Cobalt (EGC), EVelution Energy, and Trafigura signed a memorandum of understanding on Wednesday to supply Congolese cobalt to the United States. The framework aims to secure up to 40% of projected American cobalt demand through a long-term sourcing agreement. This partnership strengthens the domestic battery supply chain for the aerospace, defense, and electric vehicle sectors.
### Arizona Refinery to Process Congolese Ore EVelution Energy plans to refine cobalt hydroxide at its Arizona facility into battery-grade cobalt sulfate and alloy-grade metal. Entreprise Générale du Cobalt (EGC) will source the raw material under its state mandate in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
