Thinking Machines secures Nvidia investment and chip deal
Thinking Machines Lab secured a major investment and a one-gigawatt chip supply deal from Nvidia. The startup will use the hardware to train new AI models.
Thinking Machines Lab, an artificial intelligence startup, announced on Tuesday a multi-year partnership with NVIDIA Corporation that includes a significant capital investment and a deal to procure at least one gigawatt of next-generation processors. Under the agreement, the startup will deploy the upcoming Vera Rubin systems starting early next year to train its advanced AI models. The scale of the deal is historic, as industry experts estimate that one gigawatt of computing power—enough to supply electricity to approximately 750,000 homes in the United States—can cost as much as $50 billion.
