Swiss Regulator Demands Updates to UBS Emergency Plan
Swiss regulator FINMA states the bank's 2024 emergency plan is not yet fully implementable. The agency conducted 42 on-site inspections at UBS throughout 2025.
The Swiss financial market regulator, FINMA, has announced that the emergency contingency strategy for Switzerland's largest financial institution still requires significant improvements. According to the regulator's annual report, FINMA conducted 113 on-site inspections of banks throughout 2025, with 42 of those examinations specifically targeting UBS GROUP AG-REG. This high volume of oversight reflects the increased pressure on the lender following its 2023 emergency acquisition of Credit Suisse.
While the emergency plan submitted by the bank at the end of 2024 was found to be largely in compliance with statutory requirements, the regulator stated that it does not yet go far enough to protect the broader financial system.
