Super Micro Co-Founder Resigns After Federal Charges
Super Micro co-founder Yih-Shyan Liaw resigned from the board on Friday. This follows federal charges involving a scheme to route U.S. servers through Taiwan.
Super Micro Computer, Inc. announced on Friday that its co-founder, Yih-Shyan Liaw, has resigned from the company’s board of directors, effective immediately. The departure follows a major legal development involving federal authorities in the United States. On Thursday, the Justice Department filed charges against Liaw, sales manager Ruei-Tsang Chang, and contractor Ting-Wei Sun. The trio is accused of orchestrating a scheme to transport American-manufactured servers through Taiwan to various destinations across Southeast Asia. The resignation marks a significant shift for the hardware manufacturer as it navigates the implications of the federal investigation. The company has not yet provided further comment on the charges or the future composition of its board.
