Sunway Healthcare Launches Malaysia's Largest IPO Since 2017
Sunway Healthcare launched a $736 million IPO today to fund hospital expansion. This is the largest public listing in Malaysia in nearly nine years.
Sunway Healthcare Holdings has launched an initial public offering in Malaysia that is expected to raise at least 2.86 billion ringgit ($735.98 million), marking the largest listing in the country in nearly a decade. The IPO involves 1.97 billion shares at an offer price of 1.45 ringgit per share, according to the group's prospectus. The offering comprises 575 million new shares and 1.39 billion shares from existing investors, representing a total stake of up to 17.1% in the company. Proceeds will be primarily utilized to support the expansion of existing hospital facilities.
With shares scheduled to begin trading on March 18, the offer price gives Sunway Healthcare a market capitalisation of 16.7 billion ringgit. The company, a unit of the Malaysian conglomerate Sunway, is one of the leading private healthcare providers in the region, with interests extending to markets such as Singapore. As of January 2026, the group expects to operate 1,805 licensed beds, including the Sunway Medical Centre in Kuala Lumpur, which is the largest private hospital in the nation.
