Spain saw EU-harmonized inflation rise to 3.6% in May, up from 3.5% in April. The figure met Reuters analyst expectations. Core inflation, which excludes volatile fresh food and energy prices, climbed to 2.9% year-on-year from 2.8% in April.
Preliminary data from the National Statistics Institute (INE) released on Friday showed the 3.6% rate aligned with market forecasts. National inflation remained unchanged at 3.2% in May, according to INE, lower than the 3.4% rate analysts polled by Reuters had predicted.
