SINGAPORE AIRLINES LTD is in talks with AIRBUS SE and BOEING CO/THE to purchase at least 50 widebody jets. The carrier is seeking either the 400-seat Boeing 777X or the Airbus A350-1000 for its next growth phase. The order signals long-term capacity expansion in Singapore despite elevated Brent Crude Oil prices.
Two industry sources said the negotiations are at an early stage and could include options for dozens of additional aircraft. SIA aims to secure its fleet requirements for the next decade.
