Shell Discusses Billion Dollar South Africa Asset Sale
Shell is in advanced talks with Abu Dhabi state oil firm ADNOC to sell its South African fuel stations. The deal is valued at approximately one billion dollars.
SHELL PLC is reportedly in advanced negotiations to divest its retail fuel network in South Africa to the state-owned oil company of the United Arab Emirates, ADNOC. The potential transaction is estimated to be valued at approximately $1 billion, according to reports from Bloomberg News on Tuesday.

The discussions involve the sale of numerous service stations across the region as Shell continues to streamline its global portfolio. While the talks have reached a mature stage, Reuters noted it could not immediately verify the specific details of the report. The move aligns with ADNOC's broader strategy to expand its international retail and downstream footprint beyond the Middle East.
For Shell, the possible exit from the South African retail market follows a series of strategic reviews of its downstream assets in various territories. The company has been focusing on high-margin projects and reallocating capital to adapt to changing global energy demands and optimize its operational efficiency.
