Seres Joins BMW and Mercedes China Charging Venture
Seres joins the BMW and Mercedes-Benz charging venture as an equal partner. Its Aito brand will support IONCHI infrastructure development across China.
The Chinese automaker SERES GROUP CO L-A announced on Friday its intention to join a high-profile fast-charging joint venture in China as an equal shareholder. This partnership currently includes German automotive giants BMW and MERCEDES-BENZ GROUP AG, marking a significant expansion of the collaborative effort to build robust electric vehicle infrastructure.

According to an official statement, the electric vehicle brand Aito, which is owned by Seres, will play a pivotal role in supporting the development of the joint venture's charging network, known as IONCHI. The move aims to accelerate the deployment of high-speed charging stations across the region, catering to the growing demand for electric mobility.
The inclusion of Seres as an equal partner alongside BMW and Mercedes-Benz Group AG highlights the increasing integration between domestic Chinese manufacturers and established international luxury brands in the transition toward sustainable transportation. By pooling resources, the three companies intend to create a more comprehensive and accessible charging ecosystem for their respective customer bases.
