Senegal plans to meet March Eurobond payments using regional funds and tax revenue
Senegal will use tax revenue and regional funds to pay nearly $500 million in Eurobond debt next month. Officials are working to secure a new IMF program.
The Government of Senegal
SN has announced that it expects to make its scheduled Eurobond payments in March on time, with the total amount due being more than $480 million. According to the Senegal finance ministry, the funds required for these obligations have been raised through a combination of tax revenues (corporate income tax, personal income tax, VAT, dividend tax) and the regional debt market / regional debt auctions.
The mobilization of these funds is intended to meet the upcoming payments to Eurobond holders. This strategy of utilizing domestic and regional resources comes as the International Monetary Fund (IMF) has frozen a $1.8 billion lending programme, which has limited the external support available to the nation.
