Saudi firm Humain invests 3 billion dollars in xAI before SpaceX merger
Saudi Arabia's Humain invested 3 billion dollars in xAI before its merger with SpaceX. The deal makes the kingdom a minority shareholder in the space firm.
Insights:
Humain, an artificial intelligence company based in Saudi Arabia
SA, has completed a $3 billion investment in the Series E funding round of xAI, a transaction that took place immediately before xAI was acquired by SpaceX. This investment resulted in Humain becoming a significant minority shareholder, with its xAI holdings subsequently converted into SpaceX shares. The move follows an upsized $20 billion Series E round announced in January and marks a material step in the stated push by the Kingdom to expand its artificial intelligence capacity and infrastructure.
The $3 billion capital injection is directly linked to a previously announced joint 500 megawatts AI data center infrastructure (joint project between Humain and xAI) buildout. This project highlights the strategic focus on physical AI capacity between the two companies. By consolidating xAI into SpaceX, Elon Musk has integrated a leading AI startup into his aerospace operations, while simultaneously increasing Saudi-linked capital exposure to the combined entity's technological roadmap.
