Samsung chip profit jumps 49-fold amid AI demand growth
Samsung reported a record quarterly profit of 57.2 trillion won as chip income rose 49-fold. The company expects AI infrastructure demand to drive more growth.
SAMSUNG ELECTRONICS CO LTD reported a 49-fold jump in chip division profit to 53.7 trillion won ($36.15 billion) for the first quarter. This record performance in South Korea was driven by surging demand for memory chips used in artificial intelligence infrastructure. Investors are tracking Samsung's ability to secure high-margin supply contracts as hyperscalers ramp up spending on AI data centers.
Samsung confirmed it has signed multi-year binding contracts to lock in supplies for AI clients. The chip division accounted for 94% of the record 57.2 trillion won total operating profit reported on Thursday.
