Saipem acquisition of Deep Value Driller unit fails
Saipem says its deal for Deep Value Driller fell through as the seller chose another buyer. The firm keeps its 2026 guidance and may pursue legal action.
Saipem S.p.A.[Symbol:{ \"assets\":{ \"symbol\":\"SPM.MI\" } }] announced on Wednesday that it will not proceed with its planned acquisition of a drilling unit from Deep Value Driller AS[Symbol:{ \"assets\":{ \"symbol\":\"DVD.OL\" } }]. The energy services provider, which is based in Italy[Country:{ \"assets\":{ \"country\":\"IT\" } }], stated that the deal was terminated after the seller chose an alternative buyer for the asset.
Following the collapse of the negotiations, the company expressed its intent to defend its legal position and explore all available remedies.
Saipem said it reserved the right to take any appropriate legal action to safeguard its interests and rights in any forum.
Despite the termination of the agreement, the company confirmed that its long-term financial strategy remains on track. Saipem noted that its 2026 financial guidance, which was publicly disclosed late Tuesday, remains unchanged regardless of the outcome of this specific transaction.
