Safran to Triple Navigation Sensor Output in France
Safran plans to invest 120 million euros at its Montlucon site to triple the production of hemispherical resonator gyroscopes by 2032. The project aims to increase annual output to 30,000 units and create over 150 jobs as part of a broader global expansion strategy.
Safran will invest €120 million in its Montlucon facility in France to triple production of navigation sensors by 2032. The project is part of a broader €1.4 billion global expansion plan approved in 2025. The investment targets the production of hemispherical resonator gyroscopes (HRGs) used in aerospace and defense applications.
### Tripling Output for Navigation The investment targets the production of HRGs, which are used for planes, ships, and missiles. Director General Olivier Andries told La Tribune on Sunday that Safran will increase annual output to 30,000 units from 10,000 units. These internal sensors allow for navigation without relying on external satellite signals.
