Russian Baltic Ports Halt Oil Exports After Drone Attacks
Russia suspended oil exports at Primorsk and Ust-Luga after drone attacks on Sunday. The move adds to global supply strains as fuel reservoirs caught fire.
The Baltic Sea ports of Primorsk and Ust-Luga, the largest petroleum export outlets in Russia, have suspended exports of crude oil and fuel following a series of drone attacks. This operational halt significantly affects the global supply of Brent Crude Oil, which is already under pressure due to broader geopolitical tensions.
The suspension adds to existing global energy shortages caused by the closure of the Strait of Hormuz by Iran, a development linked to the conflict involving the United States and Israel. While the governor of the Leningrad region, Alexander Drozdenko, confirmed that several fuel reservoirs in Primorsk were set ablaze, he did not explicitly detail the duration of the export suspension. It remains unclear if the port of Ust-Luga sustained direct physical damage during the strikes.
