RIO TINTO LTD has reported an increase in first-quarter iron ore sales while cautioning that the conflict in the Middle East has created limited visibility for its supply chains heading into the second half of the year. The company noted that while direct operational impacts have been contained so far, it has established contingency plans to manage ongoing geopolitical risks.
To date on the supply-side, the direct impacts on our operations have been limited, while our commodity prices have responded favourably, Rio said in a statement, adding that it had contingency plans in place for the ongoing conflict.
