Richmond Federal Reserve President Thomas Barkin warned on Friday that a new "fog" is obscuring the economic outlook for the United States, suggesting that interest rates should remain on hold for the time being. Speaking at an economic forum at East Tennessee State University, Barkin highlighted that while some previous policy uncertainties were beginning to resolve, new challenges have emerged to complicate the Federal Reserve's path.
"I can't stand here and tell you the fog has lifted; if anything, it's deepened and spread."
