Netflix Co-Founder Reed Hastings to Exit Board in June
Reed Hastings will exit the Netflix board in June. The firm reported a 16 percent revenue rise and is now expanding into live sports and video podcasts.
NETFLIX INC has announced that its co-founder and Executive Chairman, Reed Hastings, will step down from the board this June. After 29 years with the company, Hastings will not stand for re-election at the annual meeting, planning instead to focus on his philanthropic efforts. This leadership transition follows the conclusion of a period marked by the loss of a $72 billion deal for WARNER BROS DISCOVERY INC. The company reported a strong first quarter with revenue reaching $12.25 billion, a 16% increase that surpassed the $12.18 billion forecast by analysts. Earnings per share rose to $1.23, compared to 66 cents in the same quarter last year, aided by a $2.8 billion termination fee from the failed Warner Bros and HBO acquisition. NETFLIX INC is now targeting future growth through live entertainment and video podcasts, noting high engagement from events such as the World Baseball Classic in Japan. The company also expects advertising revenue to reach $3 billion by 2026 as it improves user experience and monetization through technology. > Netflix reaffirmed in a 14-page shareholder letter that its mission remains ambitious and unchanged - to entertain the world, providing movies and series for many tastes, cultures and languages.
