Orange earnings beat expectations as Africa and Middle East growth offsets domestic slowdown
Orange reported core profits of 3.6 billion euros for the final quarter. Strong growth in Africa and the Middle East helped the firm beat analyst estimates.
Orange reported quarterly adjusted EBITDAaL of €3.6 billion for the quarter ended in December, beating the company-compiled analyst consensus of €3.3 billion. The announced result, which exceeded expectations by €0.3 billion, left the core profit slightly ahead of expectations for the telecoms sector giant.
The company’s performance was driven by growth in its Africa operations and Middle East operations. These gains helped to offset a slowdown in the France
FR home market. The expansion in these international territories proved vital in balancing the group's overall financial results.
