Oracle Plans Thousands of Job Cuts Amid Rising Costs
Oracle plans thousands of job cuts as it faces rising costs from AI data center expansion. Reductions could begin this month across several company divisions.
Oracle Corporation is reportedly planning to eliminate thousands of positions as the enterprise software giant grapples with rising costs associated with its aggressive expansion into artificial intelligence data centers. According to reports from Bloomberg News on Thursday, the layoffs could begin as early as this month and are expected to affect multiple divisions across the company.
The planned workforce reductions are described as more extensive than the typical rolling job cuts frequently conducted by the firm. The decision comes amid a reported cash crunch triggered by the massive capital expenditures required to build out infrastructure for AI services. Some of the job cuts are specifically targeting roles that the company anticipates will become obsolete or shrink as AI technology is further integrated into its operations.

In addition to the layoffs, the company has internally signaled a slowdown in recruitment. This week, management informed staff that it would review numerous open job listings within its cloud division, effectively implementing a hiring freeze or significant deceleration in that sector.
While the news was reported by journalists in Mexico, Oracle has so far declined to provide an official comment on the matter.
