Vicki Hollub to retire as CEO of Occidental Petroleum
Occidental Petroleum CEO Vicki Hollub will retire next month after a decade leading the company. Current COO Richard Jackson is set to succeed her in June.
OCCIDENTAL PETROLEUM CORP CEO Vicki Hollub will retire in June, ending a 10-year tenure at the helm of the United States shale producer. Chief Operating Officer Richard Jackson, who joined the company in 2003, will succeed her and join the board. The transition marks the conclusion of a decade defined by aggressive acquisitions and a subsequent multi-year debt reduction campaign.
### The Legacy of the Anadarko Deal Hollub's leadership centered on the 2019 acquisition of Anadarko Petroleum, a deal that shifted the company's focus toward the Permian Basin. While the transaction drew scrutiny for its debt-heavy structure, it established the producer as a dominant operator in the most productive oil field in the nation.
