Nvidia Restarts Production of China-Specific AI Chips
CEO Jensen Huang announced that Nvidia has resumed manufacturing its H200 AI chips for the Chinese market. The move follows the receipt of U.S. export licenses.
NVIDIA Corporation has resumed the manufacturing of an artificial intelligence chip variant designed to comply with trade regulations in China, according to CEO Jensen Huang. Speaking at a press conference on Tuesday, Huang confirmed that the company is once again producing the H200 chip, which is based on its Hopper architecture. Production of the chip had previously been suspended last year as the company navigated evolving export restrictions implemented by the United States.
Following the acquisition of necessary export licenses from the American government, the company has begun fulfilling orders and restarted its manufacturing lines several weeks ago. The move marks a strategic effort to maintain a presence in the Chinese market while adhering to international regulatory frameworks.
