Norway raises 2026 energy revenue forecast to 78.7 billion
Norway raised its 2026 energy revenue forecast to 78.7 billion dollars. The government cut growth outlooks to 1.7 percent as the Iran war lifts prices.
Norway expects to earn 721.1 billion crowns ($78.71 billion) from oil and gas production this year, up from the 557.4 billion crowns initially forecast. The revised estimate follows a surge in energy prices driven by the conflict in Iran. For investors, the windfall strengthens the world's largest sovereign wealth fund but forces tighter fiscal discipline to prevent domestic overheating.
### Energy Windfall Boosts Sovereign Wealth The minority Labour government plans to deposit the excess revenue into its $2.2 trillion wealth fund. While Norway produces 4 million barrels of oil equivalent per day, the finance ministry is limiting cash spending to 579.0 billion crowns. This is a decrease from the 584.0 billion crowns planned last December.
