Karnataka Fuel Pumps Sold Over-Blended E20 Petrol

Nearly four in five petrol pumps surveyed in India's Karnataka state sold fuel exceeding the permitted 20 percent ethanol limit. State officials tested samples after oil companies failed to provide details.

Nearly 80% of fuel stations tested in India's Karnataka state sold petrol with ethanol exceeding the 20% limit, a state minister said on Friday morning. The findings follow an expedited national rollout aimed at curbing crude imports and emissions. Investors are monitoring potential vehicle compatibility issues and regulatory friction over fuel standards.

### Fuel Testing Results State food, civil supplies and consumer affairs minister Rizwan Arshad said authorities tested 63 fuel samples at a certified private laboratory after oil marketing companies failed to provide requested ethanol content data. The tests revealed that 4 in 5 surveyed petrol pumps dispensed over-blended E20 fuel.
