Investors are bracing for a week of heightened volatility as they evaluate the potential expansion of conflict in the Middle East and its subsequent impact on global energy supplies. The military campaign led by the United States and Israel against Iran entered its sixth day on Thursday, triggering a surge in oil prices and unsettling financial markets. By Thursday, the benchmark S&P 500 had declined 0.7% for the week, while the Cboe Volatility Index reached its highest point since November.
"This is a very big event and it seems incredibly uncertain where its headed," said Rick Meckler, partner at Cherry Lane Investments.
