Micron Hits One Trillion Dollar Valuation on AI Demand
Micron Technology has reached a one trillion dollar market capitalization after shifting from commodity memory to specialized high bandwidth chips for Nvidia. The Idaho-based firm reported a fourteen billion dollar quarterly profit as long-term supply deals stabilize its historical boom-bust cycles.
MICRON TECHNOLOGY INC reached a $1 trillion market capitalization on Tuesday after a surge from $100 billion just one year ago. The valuation spike follows a pivot toward high-bandwidth memory (HBM) chips driven by a partnership with NVIDIA CORP. This shift moves the United States chipmaker from commodity cycles into specialized, high-margin artificial intelligence infrastructure.
### How Nvidia Rewired Micron’s Strategy The transformation began three years ago when Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang met Micron CEO Sanjay Mehrotra to align their technology roadmaps. Huang identified memory as a critical bottleneck for AI processors, prompting Micron to abandon its traditional frugality and invest in specialized HBM chips. These components are now co-designed for specific platforms, including Nvidia’s upcoming Vera Rubin architecture.
