McEwen Copper plans $300 million IPO for Los Azules
McEwen Copper plans a $300 million IPO late this year to fund its Los Azules project in Argentina. The company expects to list in the US or Canada.
McEwen Copper is moving forward with plans for an initial public offering to raise $300 million for its flagship Los Azules project in Argentina. The company, which operates as a subsidiary of McEwen Mining, intends to use the capital to advance development in the San Juan province. Michael Meding, the managing director of McEwen Copper, detailed the financing strategy during the IEFA Latam Forum in Buenos Aires. He noted that the company is looking at major North American markets, including the United States and Canada, for the upcoming listing. > "This IPO would in principle be toward the end of the year. Most likely the listing will be in the United States or Canada for about $300 million." The Los Azules project is currently supported by a feasibility study that outlines a 22-year operational lifespan, with potential extensions reaching 33 years. Production forecasts suggest an initial output of 205,000 tons of copper per year for the first five years, settling into an annual average of 148,000 tons thereafter. As the copper sector sees increased activity from firms like Copper Fox Metals Inc., McEwen Copper is positioning itself to capitalize on the rising interest in critical mineral resources. The upcoming offering represents a significant milestone for the project's transition toward full-scale production.
