Major automakers urged United States lawmakers on Monday to pass a permanent ban on Chinese vehicles during the legislative session following the midterm congressional elections. The push follows a Senate committee's approval of the bipartisan bill in July and more than 100 co-sponsors on the House version. Lawmakers face a tight window to clear the measure before the legislative session concludes in December.
