Lufthansa shifts capacity to Asia amid Middle East war
Lufthansa is moving capacity to Asia and Africa after cancelling ten Middle East routes. The group posted a 2 billion euro profit for 2025 despite fuel risks.
Deutsche Lufthansa AG is strategically reallocating its flight capacity toward Asia and Africa as the ongoing conflict in the Middle East reshapes global aviation patterns. The airline announced on Friday that it would redirect services from ten cancelled Middle Eastern destinations to high-demand locations such as Singapore and Bangkok, Thailand. This move comes as carriers across the continent, including budget operator Wizz Air Holdings Plc, pull back from the region to mitigate risks associated with the current geopolitical instability.
The aviation industry has been significantly impacted by military developments involving the United States, Israel, and Iran. These tensions have disrupted long-haul flight paths and contributed to a sharp rise in energy costs.
