Live Nation Close to Settling US Antitrust Lawsuit
Live Nation is nearing a settlement with the Justice Department to resolve an antitrust suit without selling Ticketmaster. A final deal could be announced soon.
Live Nation Entertainment, Inc. is reportedly nearing a settlement with the United States Department of Justice to resolve a significant federal antitrust lawsuit. According to reports from Bloomberg News, the deal would allow the company to avoid a court-ordered sale of its Ticketmaster division. The legal battle began in May 2024 when federal regulators and more than two dozen states sued to break up the company, alleging that it illegally inflated ticket prices and harmed the interests of artists. The trial in the case started last week after a judge rejected a bid to dismiss the lawsuit in February. Some state attorneys general have signaled their intent to join the settlement, which could be announced in the coming days. Currently, Live Nation Entertainment and the Justice Department have not commented on the ongoing negotiations.
