Insights:
Kumba Iron Ore announced on Feb. 5 that it expects full-year headline earnings for the year ended December 2025 to rise by up to 23 percent, driven by higher realised export iron ore prices and increased sales volumes. The company, which is Africa's top iron ore miner and a unit of Anglo American plc , expects headline earnings to range between 13.9 billion rand and 15.33 billion rand, compared to 12.5 billion rand in the previous year.
The company attributed the improved performance to a supportive iron ore market, specifically citing resilient Chinese pig iron production in China
CN. This market support helped bolster realised export prices for major iron ore producers throughout the period. The guidance was released ahead of the company's full 2025 financial results, which are scheduled to be made public on Feb. 19.
