Kirishi Oil Refinery Halts Work After Drone Attacks
Russia's Kirishi refinery halted operations on Thursday after drone attacks caused fires. The stoppage adds to supply issues as strikes impact infrastructure.
The Kirishinefteorgsintez oil refinery, one of the largest processing facilities in Russia, has halted its operations following a drone attack launched by Ukraine. Industry sources reported on Thursday that the strike caused fires in several sections of the plant, leading to a complete suspension of processing activities.
This disruption is expected to exacerbate existing challenges within the Russian oil supply chain. Currently, approximately 40% of the nation's crude oil export capacity is offline due to a combination of drone strikes, tanker seizures, and the closure of the Druzhba pipeline on Ukrainian territory. Sources noted that two primary processing units and several secondary units were damaged in the fires, though a specific timeline for repairs remains difficult to estimate.
