Japan offers $10 billion to boost Asian oil security
Japan will provide 10 billion dollars to help Asian nations secure oil supplies. The plan aims to stabilize regional supply chains for critical goods.
Japan has announced a new $10 billion financial framework designed to help Asian countries secure energy resources amid heightened competition driven by conflicts in the Middle East. The initiative aims to prevent disruptions to regional supply chains and will be facilitated through state-backed institutions such as the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) and Nippon Export and Investment Insurance (NEXI).
The plan was introduced by Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi following a meeting of the Asia Zero-Emission Community (AZEC), a Japan-led initiative dedicated to accelerating decarbonization and energy transition in the region. Takaichi emphasized that the scale of the financial support is substantial enough to cover a significant portion of the region's energy needs.
