Ireland proposes 8 percent cut to EU budget
Ireland has proposed an eight percent reduction in the upcoming European Union budget for 2028 to 2034. Frugal member states argue the cut is insufficient while the parliament rejects the plan.

Ireland proposed an 8% cut to the European Commission's 2028–2034 budget plan on Saturday morning, bringing the total to €1.6 trillion ($1.79 trillion).
