Indonesia remains prepared as US Supreme Court blocks Trump global tariffs
President Prabowo says Indonesia is ready for all outcomes after the US Supreme Court rejected global tariffs. Officials hope to keep a new trade agreement.
The U.S.
US Supreme Court rejected President Donald Trump's global tariffs, a decision that directly affects the legal and policy environment governing tariff treatment and the implementation of the recently signed Indonesia
ID–United States trade deal. This ruling comes at a critical time for the Government of Indonesia, as the bilateral agreement had successfully reduced tariff rates on Indonesian exports from 32% to 19% prior to this judicial intervention.
In response to the court's decision, President Prabowo Subianto stated today that Indonesia is prepared for all possibilities regarding its trade relationship with the United States government. The decision occurred contemporaneously with the presence of Indonesian officials, including Airlangga Hartarto, in Washington for trade meetings, highlighting the immediate implications for the ongoing diplomatic and economic engagement between the two nations.
