Rupee and Bonds Track Oil Prices as RBI Rule Impact Ends
The rupee and bond yields will track oil prices and capital flows this week as regulatory support fades. Traders expect the 10-year yield to stay near 6.91%.
The Indian rupee is expected to transition back to a market phase dictated by global energy costs and capital movements as the impact of recent regulatory adjustments by the central bank begins to diminish. Analysts suggest that the currency's trajectory will now be heavily influenced by fluctuations in Brent Crude Oil and the volume of equity inflows.
Last week, the rupee appreciated by 0.4% to close at 92.7275 against the dollar, building on a significant 2% rally from the prior week. This surge was largely attributed to domestic banks unwinding arbitrage positions to comply with a directive from the central bank regarding onshore foreign exchange limits. While the rupee gained, other major pairs like AUD/USD faced their own volatility amid shifting global sentiment.
