India Considers Trade Policy Shifts for Domestic Supply
India is prepared to lower import duties and restrict exports to stabilize the domestic market. The head of foreign trade announced these measures on Thursday.
India has signaled a readiness to adjust its trade mechanisms to safeguard the domestic supply of essential goods. The nation's head of foreign trade stated on Thursday that the government is prepared to lower import duties and impose restrictions on exports whenever such measures are deemed necessary to maintain local availability.

Speaking on the government's proactive approach to trade management, the official emphasized the importance of balancing international trade with internal requirements. The strategy involves a continuous monitoring of market conditions to prevent shortages and stabilize prices for the domestic population.
"India is willing to cut import duties and regulate exports when necessary to ensure adequate domestic availability of products."
This policy stance comes as global trade dynamics continue to fluctuate, prompting many nations to prioritize internal resource security. By maintaining the flexibility to adjust tariffs and export quotas, officials in New Delhi aim to provide a buffer against external market volatility.
