### Illinois Freezes Inflation-Linked Fuel Tax The Motor Fuel Tax currently costs drivers 48 cents per gallon for gasoline and 56 cents per gallon for diesel. While the tax was set to rise based on CPI inflation data, the new budget halts this adjustment for six months. Governor JB Pritzker said the pause addresses economic uncertainty and the higher costs currently facing families.
