IATA Warns Mideast Airlines Against Delaying Jet Orders
IATA Vice President Kamil Al-Awadhi advised Middle Eastern carriers against deferring aircraft orders due to the war in Iran, citing long manufacturer wait times and high long-term costs. He also expressed concern over significant damage to Kuwait's airport terminal following a recent attack.
Middle Eastern airlines should avoid delaying aircraft orders despite rising fuel costs and regional conflict, according to an International Air Transport Association (IATA) official. Kamil Al-Awadhi, IATA regional vice president for Africa and the Middle East, issued the warning following recent air strikes and heightened volatility linked to the war in Iran. Long manufacturing lead times mean deferrals could leave carriers without necessary capacity for years.
