The Hungarian forint strengthened significantly in Singapore trading on Monday, reaching a near three-year high against the euro. This market movement followed the election defeat of veteran nationalist Viktor Orban, as investors anticipated a more pro-European economic trajectory for Hungary.
The EUR/HUF exchange rate rose approximately 2% to 367.81 in thin Asian trade. Simultaneously, the USD/HUF pair climbed roughly 1.6% to 315 per dollar, placing the currency within reach of a four-year peak. Hungarian dollar bonds also showed stability following a recent rally.
