Jiangsu Hengrui Pharmaceuticals, the largest drugmaker in China by market value, reported first-quarter net profits for 2026 that aligned with market expectations as its medications gained broader coverage under national insurance programs. The company, which specializes in oncology, neurology, immunology, respiratory, metabolic and cardiovascular drugs, announced on Wednesday that its net profit for the January-to-March quarter rose 21.8% to 2.3 billion yuan ($377 million). This result matched the 2.3 billion yuan net income forecast compiled by LSEG. Revenue for the quarter increased 13% to 8.1 billion yuan, though it fell slightly short of the 8.3 billion yuan mean forecast from analysts. The performance comes as Beijing continues its centralized bulk-buying programs, which have pressured generic drug revenues. To mitigate these effects, the company has focused on securing spots in the National Reimbursement Drug List. According to a March 2026 note from HSBC Qianhai Securities, 15 of the firm's assets or new indications were included in the list by the end of 2025, supporting volume growth across its core therapeutic areas.
