Heineken exits direct ownership in Congo brewery Bralima
The Dutch brewer sold its stake in Bralima to ELNA Holdings after conflict disrupted operations. Heineken will retain its brands through licensing agreements.
The Dutch brewing giant HEINEKEN NV has finalized the sale of its stake in Brasseries, Limonaderies et Malteries (Bralima), its subsidiary in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, ending decades of direct involvement in the Central African nation. The shareholding was acquired by ELNA Holdings Ltd, a firm based in Mauritius, which will now oversee production, distribution, and the existing workforce. While the financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed, the move marks a significant shift for the Netherlands-based brewer in a region where prolonged conflict has repeatedly hindered operations.
