Braidwell Hedge Fund Gains 28 Percent and Targets AI Bio

Braidwell, a healthcare-focused investment firm based in the United States, is doubling down on its commitment to artificial intelligence-driven biopharmaceutical companies after achieving a 28% return last year. The Stamford-based firm, established by former Deerfield Management executive Alex Karnal and former Bridgewater Associates COO Brian Kreiter, has made AI a cornerstone of its strategy since its inception.
Launched in early 2022 with $3.5 billion in initial capital, the hedge fund has since deployed over $1 billion into various biotechnology, pharmaceutical, and medical device enterprises. In a recent investor letter, the founders identified several key contributors to their recent success, including Guardant Health, Inc., Alphatec Holdings, Inc., and Caris Life Sciences, Inc..
