Greece advanced the €1.9 billion ($2.1 billion) Great Sea Interconnector project by granting final permits for marine surveys and cable-laying operations on Friday afternoon. The decision overcomes years of diplomatic friction involving Turkey over eastern Mediterranean maritime boundaries. The subsea electrical link is designed to connect the power grids of Greece, Cyprus, and eventually Israel to improve regional energy security.
