Gold fell 0.5% to $3,926.52 per ounce during Tuesday morning trading as investors awaited the outcome of elections in the United States. Prices retreated after climbing 2% in the previous session from a one-year low. The safe-haven asset faced selling pressure as market participants liquidated holdings to cover margin calls elsewhere.
