Gold edged lower on Thursday as traders digested the U.S.
US Federal Reserve's divided vote on a quarter-percentage-point interest rate cut, while silver climbed to yet another record high, highlighting diverging trajectories in the precious metals market.
Spot gold fell 0.2% to $4,220.09 per ounce as of 0947 GMT, while U.S. gold futures for February delivery gained 0.5% to $4,247.50 per ounce. The modest decline came after weeks of positioning ahead of the widely anticipated rate decision.
